Service Drill is a method of practicing the DDoS attack handling flow with the customer. Depending on the customer’s situation and request, the scope of drill may vary from paper drill to attack drill. Paper drill covers only the attack handling flow with focusing on the procedures with no real attack launched. Attack drill extends the paper drill to include testing of detection and mitigation policies. This is conducted within a controlled attack simulation environment. A maintenance window is recommended together with the acknowledgement from customer that they understand the risk and agree to the attack drill.
